We ended 2009 on a high note by spending a Saturday night with SECOND CHANCE, a very cool new band. This band is headed by front man Mark Davis who looks like he belongs in a heavyweight extreme fighting cage, but we soon found out looks can be deceiving as this big guy has a powerful voice.Mark is able to hit some incredibly high notes (ala Robert Plant) one minute and then bring it down into the basement the next.He took command of the stage immediately and left no doubt about the passion he has for music.Joining Mark under the spot light is guitar master Ed Whitty who replicated some of rock’s most awesome riffs with seemingly little effort and minimal electric gadgets.Mike Seitz shared in the guitar duties and is another very accomplished musician who knows how to put on a show. Mike, along with his guitar produced some wild sounds much to the delight of the crowd.Additionally, both Mike and Ed helped out with vocals. Jim Coony is the guy in charge of the bass. It was plain to see that he has spent many years honing his skills and is not afraid to let them all hang out as he showed us throughout the night. The man in the back pounding on the drums is Lonnie Langel. Lonnie plays the skins with lighting speed and pinpoint accuracy. Second Chance did a fantastic job covering ZZ Top, Robin Trower, Black Sabbath and Creed. They slipped in a couple of great sounding originals too. Our favorite of the night was their cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”.Second Chance did a killer job and with Mark’s awesome vocals they definitely live up to their slogan of “quality classic and hard rock”.Our advice to you is to seize the opportunity to see this band’s next show.ROCK ON!!!
If your musical taste gravitates towards the Eighties, then
WHISKEY SIN is the band for you! Lead
singer Brian Templeman did an excellent job covering everything from AC/DC to
Beastie Boys and did so not in a shy way.His in-your-face style allows him to cover many of your favorite bands
of the 80’s. Lead guitarist Colin Evans’
hard rock approach keeps up with this band’s energy.Brian Evans manned the bass guitar and had
his amp turned up full blast which gave the crowd the depth they love!Rounding out this powerhouse band is drummer
Tony Covganka and yes he pounds without the aid of an amplifier but can
definitely still be heard over the screaming guitars. Whiskey Sin showed its diversity by switching
from Rage Against the Machine to
